Since this day, the sun doesn't want to go down during the summer in front of these mountains. The Lofoten islands are made of 4 principal islands connected by bridges and a tunnel. At souther end, the islands of Vaerøy and Røst are known for their colonies of Scandinavian birds and are accessible by boat.
At Lofoten, the sun is shining 24h a day, from May 27 to July 17, that gives time to discover these unique landscapes and people who live there; trekking, cycling, in kayaks, or by boat.
Housing can be booked in old fisherman huts called : rorbu. Or in sjøhus, -sea house-, which are collective structures where the kitchen is shared, that enable meetings with other travelers or owners which often are fishing men. You also have a boat that can be rented in the majority of the residences; take time to fish your own cod at Lofoten …
There are various alternatives for this voyage : You may want to travel by bike, trekking or even in kayak, on your own or guided.
